updates

A few updates of the last month or two.

The baroque garden viewed for the clock tower
We are currently in Copenhagen to complete our DIVA residency with Gl Holtegaard as part of the Show time exhibition.
Gl Holtegaard is a contemporary and modern art gallery set in a 1750's house built by the Queen's architect (for himself), with a restored full baroque garden, including its own orchard and beehives.
The combination of the exhibition, the settings and the gallery team makes for a very interesting context to work with. By the end of the residency (24th of this month) we will implement a new project that will respond to these different aspects of the place.

In the mean time Watershed+ has been picking up speed and momentum and is coming along nicely. As yet there still isn't a website to share more of the developments but it's coming soon! Just before we left we selected 4 mentees to work on different facets of Watershed+ and we're looking forward to work with them on our return to Calgary.
One of the project that is being developed is a design for a new park incorporating a storm water pond system, working with O2 Landscape Architects.

On other projects, the art landscape project we are developing for Worcester University is now going through planning, thanks to the hard work of BCA landscape architects with whom we've been refining the initial design.

Liberty Kent Public Art Award

A belated news, last month we were delighted to have been shorlisted for the Liberty Kent Public Art Award for Iconic Site in Margate.
And 2 weeks ago we got the news that we were runners up! A very nice surprise indeed.
The winner for 2011 is Adam Chodzko for Ghost and the other runner is A K Dolven for Out of Tune, a very company to be in.

Margate

We've just finished installing Iconic site, now placed on the historic Fort Road Hotel in Margate.
To coincide with the opening of the Turner Contemporary, Iconic Site was commissioned to question the future of the Fort Road Hotel, now laying derelict, one of the last building in the area that JMW Turner would have recognised if he were to visit Margate today.

Iconic site Newcastle

Yesterday we installed Iconic Site in Newcastle, this siting has been commissioned by Silverlink as an artwork to launch the beginning of the Stephenson Quarter and the future involvement of artists throughout this development.

The switch on by the leader of Newcastle City Council, Councillor John Shipley will take place on monday 24th November at 4pm.
The sign will be visible during the hours of darkness until March 2009. The work can be seen from the from many vantage points in the city or from trains entering and leaving Newcastle train station.

Iconic site Liverpool

Iconic Site is now on show in Liverpool until 19 Nov.
Commissioned by Places Matter! an Architecture and Built Environment Centre for the Northwest, in collaboration with Cube, (Centre for the Urban Built Environment) in Manchester. The installation is part of the Pool of Light lighting festival taking place in Liverpool this autumn.
